Don’t make the mistake of thinking that everybody is a prospect for your mlm business. The way to find your target market is NOT by sitting around Starbucks looking for people that are sharp, but instead connecting with people that have been or are currently working within the network marketing niche.

These people understand network marketing already and don’t ask questions like “Is This A Pyramid”. How I’ve usually found these people is by using the internet market myself not my business.

Another group of people you want to continually be looking for when mlm recruiting are people that are in need of your products, services. Learn how to market on the internet and this becomes very easy to sponsor these types of people. You’ll even have them calling and hunting you down.

What MLM Prospecting Should Not Be…

MLM prospecting is not about talking to everybody that comes within 3 feet of you. In my personal opinion that is one the the worst mlm prospecting tips and is the reason why the mlm industry has such a bad reputation and most network marketers quit after a short time.

It’s simply understanding what you have and how to get it in front of the people that want it most efficiently. When you approach random people who have not expressed a want for what you have, it only leads to resistance and rejection. Network marketers only do this because they don’t understand marketing.

2. Use A MLM Prospecting System

What is a system? A mlm recruiting system gives you the ability to take potential buyers and future business partners thru a process of qualification where you only spend your time with those that are actually serious about joining your business or purchasing your products. This frees up your time drastically.

Having a system is probably one of the most powerful of any mlm prospecting tips especially if you intend to market on the internet. Once you have an effective system in place you can drive traffic to your website, generate leads, qualify those leads, and sponsor new reps almost on autopilot.

MLM Prospecting Tips – In closing

In closing just remember mlm prospecting is not about chasing friends, family, and neighbors. Its about knowing exactly who your target market is and where you need to spend the majority of your time to get the best results… and lastly you need a mlm prospecting system that does the heavy lifting for you so you don’t waste your time talking to people that have no intentions in joining your business.

Hi, Robin,

Chasing friends or relatives is definitely not the way to go for prospecting. Regarding the 3-feet rule, my view is that we can choose to engage with anyone who comes into our world. However, the engaging process would only be limited to ‘greet and qualify’ (as taught by Tim Sales). We do not NEED to prospect anyone! This is not wise either :)

Instead of actually going out and about meeting people, we can now *meet* people online. Thanks to the internet and the social media. What is even more exciting is that people can be attracted to us because of what we do online. This is why online marketing systems are so powerful. The ‘greet and qualify’ stages have a different dynamics when it is the prospects who are approaching us for more information!
